Provide leadership and development of midwifery and clinical services and programs.  Support students from several universities and programs including midwifery, nursing, health studies, and public health.  Promotes internal collaborations between licensed providers and allied health professionals and community birth workers.  Participation in grant writing process and reporting processes.

1/2019- 08/2020: Owner, Cobblestone Midwifery— Memphis, TN

Private practice midwifery care.  Serves families with healthcare from pre-conception counseling through six weeks postpartum.

11/2016-1/2019: Director, Perinatal Services, CHOICES Memphis Center for Reproductive Health - Memphis, TN

Provide guidance on utilization of community partners and providers in new
birth center setting.  Develop and expand community based midwifery practice.  Oversee interns and work in collaboration with marketing, communications, community outreach, and development depts.  Clinical midwifery service for families planning home or hospital birth.

01/2015-Current: Founder, Girls + Science - Seattle, WA

This semester long program is designed to hit three key areas of concern in the
development of females in the science, health care, and public health fields:  1)promotes change from within the community by empowering girls and
women to develop knowledge about the problems their community faces and
to generate solutions from within.  2) inoculates girls against the massive
college drop-out rate seen for girls who declare in any study of science through
creating a support system and intentional preparation 3)prepares girls to deliver
thoughtful, organized, impactful presentations that convey their knowledge
and passion in a professional way

2014, 2015: Speaker, Midwives Association of Washington State conference presenter

Presented at annual conference regarding smooth transitions and collaborative care between community-based clinics and the hospital system and the role of midwifery in public health.

04/2014-Current: Founder, South Seattle Women’s Health Foundation - Seattle, WA

Opened first free/medicaid based collaborative midwifery-led perinatal clinic with focus on serving local families of color and immigrant families.  Dedicated to increasing job capacity within the communities we serve and creating safe learning space for
students of color to learn their profession.  Collaborative integrated care with

01/2013-Current: Founder, Girl Sense - Seattle, WA

Co-founder, Girl Sense:  A seven week mindfulness-based program designed to
help girls learn stress reduction skills and increase self-knowledge through a sensory
study of the way they know themselves and the world around them.

12/2012-6/2016: Owner, Licensed Midwife, Essential Birth & Family Center - Seattle, WA

Owner and lead midwife.  Established community of over 40 providers, doulas,
and educators serving expecting and new families in the neighborhood.
Promoted growth from within local micro-communities by offering training,
resources, and guidance to local student midwives, doulas, and educators.
Full home birth midwifery practice including preceptorship of students from
Bastyr University.  Established first collaborative care agreement to offer
community based perinatal care with access to family physicians and
perinatologists as needed or for planned hospital birth if desired by family.

06/2011-09-2011:  Hospital midwife, Instructor, Port Vila Hospital - Port vila, Vanuatu

Clinical and hospital midwifery care for the perinatal year in the South Pacific,
worked 8-10 hrs per day, six days per week.  Comprehensive prenatal and
postpartum care in hospital clinic.  Managed normal and high risk births
including twins, VBACs, breeches, as well as managed many obstetric
emergencies requiring maternal and neonatal advanced life support skills.
Provided NBAS assessment and newborn care to NICU babies, provided NBO
sessions to new mothers and their families.  Consulted with world authority
Dr. Nils Bergman and taught Kangaroo Mother Care to nursing staff and
mothers of premature and sick babies.
Taught antenatal, postpartum, care, and newborn assessment and care to
local nursing students and Australian nursing and medical students.

05/2011-05/2013: Guest Lecturer, Bastyr University - Kenmore, WA

Guest Lecturer and panel participant for workshops offered to 3rd year students
in their final semester of midwifery school

02/2011-Current: ALSO Certified, American Academy of Family Physicians

Completed 18.5 training with the American Academy of Family Physicians in
Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics.  Completed additional suturing course
during the workshop.

03/2010-Current:  Certified NBO Clinician, trained NBAS, Brazelton Institute- Boston, MA

Trained at the Brazelton Institute of Harvard Medical School and Boston
Children’s Hospital to assess newborns in clinical and home settings.

Provide workshops and classes for advanced doula trainings focused on
providing labor support in the out of hospital setting

2008, 2010: Speaker, Trust Birth Conference - Redondo Beach, CA

Speaker at 2008 and 2010 conferences, addressing student and practicing
midwives and perinatal professionals on mother-centered philosophy of care,
Brazelton inspired model for newborn exam, and the role of the doula in out of
hospital birth care.

09/2008-08/2011:  Midwifery Intern - Seattle, WA

Intern role in busy homebirth midwifery practice with WA State licensed
midwife.  Moved from student role to primary under supervision for all perinatal
care including twins, VBAC and breech births and postpartum care of mom and
baby through 6 weeks after birth.

05/2001-12/2015: Labor and Postpartum doula — Seattle, WA

Certified Labor Doula (CAPPA).  Attended 1000 births in home, birth center, and
hospital and provided labor support for families, adoptive parents, biological
parents, partners and siblings in attendance.
